iainstitute.org Website Redesign Project > Current Status Report
=== August, 2006 === Key Issues *Board is concerned that concept/wireframing stage is taking too long, members are begging for a new site now. *Need to get a design and technology team assembled immediately. Accomplishments This Period *Site concept approved; ready to assemble design team. *Member database upgrade has been approved, which will allow us to integrate more functionality into the website, including the geolocate and open directory features. *Board approved opening a Local Group blog for local groups to use to keep in touch. Group pages will contain contact information and description of when and how groups will meet. Password and content creation rights to be discussed. *Web 2.0 features approved as long as they can be accomplished within a reasonable timeframe & expense and are done iteratively, i.e., allow space for the applications, but don't hold up the redesign for the sake of a cool new app. Tasks for Next Period *Continue working through resolution on the open issues *Recruit a design lead and team members *Create a a "sandbox" for the new site structure & dev & get folks up to speed with environment (moveable type blog) |
