The Information Architecture Institute is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to advancing and promoting information architecture. Founded in 2002, the Institute now has over 500 members in 40 countries.
Manager of Marketing and Communications
The Information Architecture Institute is currently seeking a talented individual to serve as manager of marketing and communications. This is a part-time independent contractor position without benefits (roughly 5 to 15 hours per week at US $20 per hour). This is a great opportunity to gain experience and visibility while helping to build the community and practice of information architecture.
Responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors and the Communications Director to develop marketing and public relations strategies that raise awareness of the Information Architecture Institute, grow the membership, and increase recognition of the value of information architecture.
- Write press releases, craft web site copy, contribute to the newsletter, and perform other writing and editorial responsibilities as necessary to reach marketing and public relations goals.
- Work with other professional associations and conference organizers to support the Institute's event sponsorship program.
- Facilitate internal communications between and among the board of directors, the board of advisors, and our membership.
Requirements include:
- Strong writing skills, including experience writing brochures, press releases, and newsletters.
- Demonstrated interest and involvement in the field of information architecture.
- Comfortable with wide variety of communication-related software and technology (e.g., word processing, image editing, HTML).
- Comfortable working independently and as a team member in constantly evolving, highly distributed work environment.
The Manager of Marketing and Communications will report to the President of the Board of Directors, and will collaborate closely with the volunteer Communications Director.
