Happy Birthday, Boxes and Arrows!

Happy Birthday, Boxes and Arrows!

We'd like to congratulate our partner Boxes and Arrows on turning 10 this year!

The peer-review web magazine started on March 11, 2002 with "Welcome to Boxes and Arrows" by founder/publisher Christina Wodtke. It was the first web 'zine to focus on the newly emerging practices of information architecture and interaction design for the web, and many of our favorite thought leaders started there.

In the first year, B&A published stories on such diverse topics including personas,cross-cultural design, role definition, new markets for design and interactivedesign history. Revisit that first set of articles and you'll be surprised how many are still relevant a decade later. All-in-all, over 400 stories have been published in the magazine, written by practitioners and edited by their peers. Because it has been written by those in the trenches, it's provided practical actionable advice for anyone trying to design better.

B&A would like to thank this amazing community for its support over the years. If you would like to be involved in the next decade of the magazine, see how "you can help". You have the ideas, passion and knowledge to grow the practice; we cannot do it without you.

B&A will be sponsoring a very special retreat in August to look at the future of our profession as well the next generation of the magazine. Learn more here. If you are interested in helping make it happen, please contact retreat@boxesandarrows.com.
