IAI NEWS - http://www.iainstitute.org
Greetings IA Institute!
*New Board of Directors elected*
Please join us in welcoming Will Evans, Jonell Gades, and Andrea Resmini to the Board of Directors. On October 1, they joined Christian Crumlish, Andrew Hinton, Livia Labate, and Russ Unger to round out the 2009-2010 Board. We also say goodbye to two board members this month: Please join us in thanking Stacy Surla and Jorge Arango for their dedicated service.
Thanks to all of you who took the time to vote! And let's have another round of applause to the other fine candidates who were on this year's ballot -- we had a really great roster to choose from!
Share your ideas and questions with the incoming board on our feedback link on our home page - http://www.iainstitute.org
*Salary Survey Open*
The IA Institute produces an annual salary survey, capturing information on compensation, daily work habits and demographics. You can help us identify the trends in IA titles, salaries, and activities of practitioners by taking this short online survey. We'll share the results once the survey closes and we've analyzed the results.
The survey closes on October 31 so please contribute to this great community resource at: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=rnk5PuDVMuIRC1QwwS9PtA_3d_3d,

WHAT'S NEW WITH OUR PARTNERS
ASIS&T Bulletin and Boxes and Arrows
ASIS&T Bulletin - http://www.asis.org/bulletin.html
In the October/November issue of Asis&t Bulletin, Stacy Surla ends her four-year editorship of the IA Column and introduces new editor Thom Haller. We want to thank Stacy Surla for her brilliant work promoting IA and bringing so many writers and issues to our attention. In his introduction as the new IA Column editor, Thom Haller describes his interest in the foundations of IA and use of the "8 P's" a series of questions that have guided his work. Help welcome Thom Haller into his new role by answering his question to readers: "What studies, summaries, stories and findings show the relationship between good architecture and accomplishment?"
We look forward to reading more from Thom Haller in future issues. See the current column online:
http://asist.org/Bulletin/Oct-09/OctNov09_Surla.html
And that's not at all, October/November is dedicated to Search. In this issue you can follow the evolution of search, current issues and uses and future possibilities. From "Reconsidering Relevance and Embracing Interaction" to "Integration of Taxonomy and Keyword Searches" to "Semantic Search", follow the authors through today's topics in Search. Recommended reading for people who design, guide or use search.
